About
Hi! I'm Katie
I am a Junior at Howard Payne University where i'm studying Communication. If you don't know where HPU is, it's cool, just stick your finger in the middle of a map of Texas and you're probably there. I have always wanted to have a blog, but I have never had anything to talk about that I felt like people needed to know.
The past two years, I have been in and out of dermatologist and doctor offices because of this painful rash on my chest that would come and go. Little did I know that the skin is actually a response to the immune system until I paid a visit to an allergist office.
When I obtained knowledge about my immune system, I felt defeated. I knew I needed to change up my lifestyle to improve the inflammation in my body, but it was a huge part of my identity. Think to yourself, how often do you go to church without going to lunch afterwards with friends? Fellowship is found through food in the south. I don't know how often you've been out, but its almost impossible to find meals without soy, gluten, sugar, and dairy.
I walked out of the doctors office feeling like a victim, but weeks into this journey, not only did my skin improve, but my energy, anxiety, insomnia, and confidence were shaped because of it. Just proof that God crafts beauty from our imperfections.
If there is anything that I have learned, it's that health and wellness is not common knowledge. I am not claiming to know everything, but I know that the things I have learned have dramatically improved my well being and I would like to pass on any knowledge that might help you.
